What we call money, which we hold so much in high esteem, that if we do not have , we feel like we have nothing, we feel like we are poor, this *money* is a piece of paper that has been given the power that it has today, by the government or the CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria).
It is because the government has said, before you can purchase this food item or that dream car of yours, you must use this paper(money), if you don't use it, no one would sell anything to you. Before now, we had various means of acquiring goods, some of which are:
1) Trade by barter
2) Cowries.
Now this is my own perspective of what money is money is nothing but what I give to acquire what I want -Akpoghomhe Christopher.
Aliko Dangote is considered rich today, fine, because of the money he has, but in actual sense, Dangote is rich, because he has been able to give and he's still giving things that are necessary for human(Nigerian) survival. And what has he got in return as his Return On Investment (ROI), all that he needs.
So the point is, how much value can you add to your society where you live, how much value have you added to the society where you live, how many problems have you solved, how many solutions are tied to your name, small wonder there is this saying "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."
This is what money is: If you keep on loving that paper(money), you may keep on doing dreadful things to acquire it, but if you keep on loving people and work towards the betterment of these people, looking for ways to see how you can improve their standard of living, this paper(money) would have no choice than to pursue and find you and dwell with you in abundance anywhere you go and wherever you find yourself.
